Installation of Impact Windows and DoorsAstor Impact Windows has more than 12 years successfully installing impact-resistant windows, doors and storefront systems. We fully apply our expertise and knowledge from our construction company to our window business. Our team is trained and properly insured to perform complex impact-resistant window installations. In addition, we have the equipment and personnel to perform opening alterations, such as reinforcing concrete/steel frames, building new frames or simply reconfiguring existing building structures.
TIME FRAMES, WHAT TO EXPECT?The time it takes to complete a project varies since every job has different characteristics and specifications. However, a typical three-bedroom, two-bathroom house with 16 windows and 4 doors might take between 4 to 7 business days to complete.
HOW INTRUSIVE OR INVOLVED ARE THE INSTALLATIONS?For straight-forward replacements in which no alterations to the openings are required, the extent of the work most probably will involve removing the existing stucco around the perimeter of the window/door (siding), uninstalling the existing security system (done by client's alarm contractor), putting down blinds (performed by the client), and in some cases, removing the window sills. Typically, existing windows can be pulled out as a unit. In some cases, however, older windows may have to be disassembled piece by piece. Expect a significant amount of dust to be generated as a result of drilling the holes to properly anchor the new windows. Unfortunately, there is no way around the dust issue. Also, it is common practice to remove the exterior stucco if the window is embedded into the stucco. Stucco repair is typically included in scope of work. If it is, it will be explicitly stated in our proposals and contract.

Waterproofing Window and Door Openings in a New Construction ProjectOn this video, Carlos A. Paesano, owner of Astor Windows and Doors, offers a brief explanation of the methodology that Astor Windows uses to waterproof new construction openings for the proper installation of impact windows and doors in Miami, Florida. BUILDING INSPECTIONSEvery window/door installation requires inspection(s) by a building inspector of the corresponding municipality. The inspector makes sure that the windows and doors are installed in accordance with the Florida Building Code and the Notice of Product Acceptance of the windows. Astor Windows and Doors is responsible for coordinating and passing these inspections. An Astor Windows's representative will be at the property waiting for the building inspector.
